Getting My TEFL Certification
My TEFL certification course was brutal, but totally worth it. The skills I learned are immediately transferable to any teaching situation, and to life in general. How did I find the program I went through? I searched online for tefl information, and found that the highest rated school in Latin America was in Costa Rica (with an offshoot in Peru). After flying down there with my best friend (also a teacher) we endured four straight weeks of all-day classes and all-night homework. People got so stressed out that they began binge-eating, and soon after every class the formerly stately table became strewn with wrappers and empty bottles, cans, and boxes. I truly think that if the course had gone on much longer we all would have started to come in in our pajamas and bring massive baked goods, all in an effort to comfort ourselves and combat the stress of the course. Luckily, we all made it through alive, and learned a ton!
