Pressure Washing Was Not What I Expected

I needed to make a few bucks to pay off some debt that I had so one summer I thought I would start up a part time pressure washing business. What followed was not something I saw coming. I first starting knocking on doors to ask for work but that was not taken well. So I made up some fliers and sent them out to a nice subdivision that I live near. I received one call and did not close the job. I spent over two hundred dollars per month all summer on a yellow page ad that produced two phone calls all year and zero jobs. I finally landed a job through a friend for his Dad. It was a house wash. It took my almost 15 hours to complete it and I charged the guy three hundred dollars, hardly worth it but that was the going rate for a house his size. I struggled to get jobs the rest of the summer. Most of them were through acquaintances that I think pretty much felt sorry for me. I thought I was being professional but obviously the public did not view me as that. The jobs I did were very tough and barley paid my expenses. At the end of the pressure washing season I basically made enough to pay for my fuel, rented equipment, and my yellow page bill. Not what I had in mind.
