Does your club need to accept credit card payments? A club may believe that it is convenient to accept credit card payments with eftpos terminals. There are a couple of points which need to be addressed. Firstly a telephone line and electrical point is usually required. If this is not available then the terminal can be run from a senior club members office or home. A mobile terminal will cost an extra $20 per month on average for terminal rental. Another point to consider is that while many clubs are seasonal the fees and charges from a bank are all year round. Therefore even if you do not utilize the terminal you will be charged rental and a minimum fee. Make sure that you ask plenty of questions and consider the options before jumping in to getting a credit card merchant facility for your club.
